Healthcare/Community

Dr. Diana Ruggiero is active in the fitness community teaching water fitness classes for all ages, promoting diversity, equity and inclusion throught instruction in Spanish.

In collaboration with Clinica Esperanza,  We established a vital partnership that extends beyond the clinic's mission to offer hope to the community's underserved minority population. This collaboration involves sending students from  the University of Memphis to Clinica Esperanza to practice their medical interpreting skills in a real-world setting with Medical studies in UTHSC. The clinic, aptly named the 'Clinic of Hope,' provides an invaluable opportunity for our students, residents, and faculty members to apply their learning hands-on, contributing to the clinic's essential services. Through this partnership, our students are not only able to enhance their interpreting skills but also play a significant role in bridging the communication gap between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients.
